ArcTiles

ArcTiles is a toolbar for ArcGIS 9.x that dramatically simplifies the process of publishing ArcGIS maps online with Google Maps. ArcTiles renders your map as a series of 256×256 tiles and publishes them to arctiles.com, where you can reference them from your own website, either as a link, an embedded iframe, or within your own JavaScript applications.

With the ArcTiles publishing workflow, you can avoid in many cases the need for setting up your own mapping server: your tiles are hosted on arctiles.com, powered by Google App Engine, from which you can serve millions of views at cost effective rates.

Examples

Demographic Overlays

Overlay complex demographic maps on Google’s existing road and satellite maps.

Base Maps

Not all corners of the earth are well-covered by Google’s standard maps. ArcTiles allows you to publish your custom base maps and then use the power of the Google Maps API to add markers and other point data.

Satellite Overlays

ArcTiles allows you to combine your own shapefiles with Google’s satellite imagery library. Here is a mashup between data from the Afghanistan Information Management Service, rendered with ArcTiles, and Google’s satellite imagery:
