ActivityInfo was originally developed in early 2009 for UNICEF’s Emergency Unit in the DRC, who faced the challenge of coordinating two large, multi-year, multi-partner programs– the Program for Expand Assistance to Returnees (PEAR) and the Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM). The first version of ActivityInfo was developed between January and March 2009, and evolved monthly over the rest of 2009 in response to user feedback and emerging operational needs.
In late 2009, ActivityInfo was adopted as the NFI and Education Cluster’s information management platform in the DRC, and in 2010 OCHA began expanding ActivityInfo’s use to the remaining clusters in the DRC.
In 2011, ActivityInfo is used by more than 300 users from 75 different organizations in the DRC, from local Congolese NGOs to large international NGOs. bedatadriven is currently working with UNICEF to develop ActivityInfo 2.0, which brings powerful cartography, offline mode, and many other features requested by users.
